The international science communication competition FameLab returns to Galway on the 1st of March 2018 and we are looking for local talent to take part and showcase their science communication skills. The competition is open to anyone who works on, applies, teaches or studies science in any capacity and we think you might have what it takes!
So what is FameLab? FameLab is a science communication competition. Our contestants will have three minutes to deliver a short piece on any science-related topic they like, in any manner they desire. They can use props, comedy and even music to make their points. They will then be judged according to the three 'C's of FameLab: Content, Clarity and Charisma!
Winning contestants from FameLab Galway will attend an all-expenses paid 2 day communication master class on the 24-25 March 2018, and participate to FameLab Ireland Final held at the Science Gallery, Dublin on Thursday 12th April 2017. The winner will represent Ireland at the FameLab international finals at the Cheltenham Science Festival with representatives from organisations like NASA and CERN.
How do I take part? It's easy! APPLY by clicking HERE and fill out the online application form before the 16th of February.
Will there be any training? There will be an introductory training session on Wednesday the 7th of February in NUI Galway at 6 pm. Remember, the deadline for applications is the 16th of February so it is totally okay to come along to the training and see if you like it before you commit.
Can I bring some friends? Of course! Audience tickets are available from our Eventbrite FameLab Galway page
