National Biodiversity Week 2013
National Biodiversity Week will take place this year from Saturday 18th May to Sunday 26th May, with the UN International Day of Biodiversity being celebrated on 22nd May. This year the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has designated a theme of Water & Biodiversity for 2013.

Nanoscience Superhero Competition Winners
Congratulations to students from Loreto St Michael's, Navan, Co. Meath and Killarney Community School, Co Kerry, who won the "Design A Nano Superhero Competition". This competition was in collaboration with CRANN and The Science Gallery.
European CanSat competition
A team of nine students from Coláiste an Phiarsaigh, Glanmire, were placed 2nd at the European Final of the CanSat competition. Fifteen teams from eight European Space Agency member states competed at the European Final in the Netherlands.
Smart Futures STEM Week (29 April – 3 May 2013)
The Week will be focusing on careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), aimed at second level students making final CAO choices, or Junior Cycle/TY students making subject choices, and is also a chance for teachers, guidance counsellors and parents to get up-to-date about career opportunities in STEM in Ireland.

Congratulations to all the Award Winners: Lodge Award was given to Mr Paddy Daly and Science Educator of the Year went to Ms Siobhan Sweeney. The PCI Awards went to Loreto St Michael's, Navan and St Andrew's, Blackrock, Dublin.
KidWind – FREE Training in Wind Energy for Teachers
KidWind Ireland is a project that seeks to support teachers all over Ireland to access training programs and equipment in wind energy. The course may be useful for Transition Year and the new Junior Cycle activities.
