Chemistry Network Meetings

For the month of March Chemistry Network Meetings will take place from 7-9 pm in every Education Centre in the country. Places are limited due to numbers of computers at various venues so advance BOOKING ESSENTIAL. Book early to avoid disappointment! Extra dates may be provided in some venues depending on demand. www.ichemistry.ie


SciFest 2010

SciFest is a national festival of science organised regionally in collaboration with the Institutes of Technology and is open to all second level students. Keep up to date on www.scifest.ie


BT Young Scientist 2010 Winner

Richard O’Shea, 18 year old sixth year student from Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, Blarney, Co Cork has been named the winner of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2010 with his project entitled, “A biomass fired cooking stove for developing countries”.


ISTA PharmaChemical Ireland Senior Science Quiz

The Final of the ISTA Senior Science Quiz was held in the Edmund Burke in Trinity College on Saturday 28th November. There were 108 Leaving Certs from 36 schools nationwide. Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin was the guest Quizmaster. Míle Buíochas do gach duine!

21st EU Contest for Young Scientists

Congratulations to Young Scientist Winners who won the top prize in Europe. Liam McCarty and John O'Callaghan are students in Kinsale Community School. Their project entitled "The Development of a Convenient Test Method for Somatic Cell Count and it's Importance in Milk Production" won first prize of €7000 in the European contest.

The Mathematical Formula Behind Beauty Wins the RDS McWilliams Young Science Writers’ Competition

The RDS is delighted to announce that nineteen-year-old Sam Hafford from Castleknock College, Co. Dublin is the overall winner of the RDS McWilliams Young Science Writers’ Competition 2009.
