All science teachers are invited to participate in a 5-week short course to assist you in teaching the module “Exploring Electronics” to Transition Year students. No previous knowledge of electronics is assumed. The training programme is a collaborative effort between the Department of Electronic Engineering, Munster Technological University, (formerly CIT), the Cork Electronics Industries Association(CEIA), the Irish Science Teachers' Association and UCC. Teachers who complete the programme will receive full certification.
The course will run on the following five Wednesday evenings from 6.30 – 8.30 p.m. in the Department of Electronic Engineering, Munster Technological University: 3 November, 10 November, 17 November, 24 November and 1 December. Lectures will take place in Room B263 and lab practicals will run in the adjoining laboratories. Each evening begins with a short talk covering the background theory and the rest of the evening is spent on “hand-on” activities. There is plenty of car parking available on the campus.
There is no course fee and participants will receive a full suite of resources for teaching the Exploring Electronics module. We wish to acknowledge the support of TPN funding in running this course.
To apply for a place on the course, simply e-mail your name, mobile phone number and name of the school in which you are teaching to Dr. Declan Kennedy UCC (email@example.com).
Places are limited so it will be on a first come first serve basis.
