Sentinus STEM support

Sentinus provide STEM support to all schools in Northern Ireland at GCSE and A-Level.  They also deliver workshops in Biotechnology to support the Leaving Cert Biology syllabus. 

Leaving Cert Biology – Gel Electrophoresis of DNA from Lambda Phage 

Location – A Biology lab in your school

Session Time – 9.30 am to 1.30 pm

Maximum group size – 32

Practical support will include:

  • Practise loading the gels
  • Prepare DNA digests
  • Load DNA into gels
  • Presentation to explain the practical with questions to check for understanding
  • Stain the gels
  • Observe and photograph the DNA fragments and measure Rf values
  • Q & A Summary session
