Up Up & Away

Aerprize scholars, Conor Kennedy and Carmel Byrne, traded Angel City Flyers Diamond DA40s for the Aer Lingus A330, Flight Manuals for textbooks, and LA’s beaches for Dublin. Both return to Ireland for the end of summer and start of school/university with their rights to the skies; Private Pilot Certificates in hand.

“While Aerprize started as a concept to give practical insights to science and mathematics through aviation, it has now had a real effect on real people.” — Aero City Group President, Seosamh Somers.

These pilots have come a long way from ever imagining they’d solo an airplane to doing so along the United States’ California coast. “Confidence is at an all-time high,” notes Carmel, “this definitely opens a lot of new doors.”

“What an experience,” claims Conor, “I can’t wait to watch the next Aerprize journey.”

Angel City Flyers had the extraordinary honour of hosting such talented students. “Allowing them this opportunity and gateway to aviation couldn’t have come to a better end,” says ACG Business Development Manager, Lindsay Kast, “with such excitement and accomplishment in these young students over an extensive and studious summer.”

“Now, we’re even more excited about our preparation for Aerprize 2020.” — Somers.

Congratulations, Conor and Carmel.
